If you think all the big political parties are the same - you're right! The bosses have got three parties - isn't it about time we had one of our own?

New TUSC bulletin: get ready for the 2011 local elections, more than 30 million go to the polls

The weekend press has reported that student leaders plan to challenge Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, in Sheffield Hallam in 2015. But Clegg losing votes to the 2nd or 3rd place lets the Tories or Labour in (already cut tertiary education!). We need a new, national challenge - starting now, in the local elections 2011. Read the new TUSC bulletin at http://bit.ly/9ZX83P arguing for hundreds of socialists, trade unionists and anti-cuts candidates in every town and city next May.

Check out the draft election platform, on which TUSC will be organising a conference in January to finalise, which is also on the website. If you agree with the aims of TUSC, and want to get involved in the local election campaigns in England or Wales, either as a candidate or to support others who might want to stand, then there are contact details on the website. There are also details of a challenge in the 2011 Scottish Parliament elections.

There's lots of trade union news in the bulletin and if you'd like to subscribe directly, please e-mail TUSCbulletin@yahoo.co.uk, and write 'subscribe' in the subject box.

Please forward this bulletin to others, both Facebook friends and people you know via e-mail, and encourage them to subscribe as well.

Resistance to the cuts is inevitable and vital, but unless we address the overall cuts agenda then even where in one area or in one service determined action can push the cuts back, someone else somewhere else will find a demand for a bigger cut. The CNWP shares TUSC's belief that a new party, based on the organisations and communities of the working class, is needed that campaigns for a democratic socialist society run in the interests of the millions not the millionaires.

Have a look at the bulletin at: http://bit.ly/9ZX83P and get involved in the campaign.

Many thanks,

Cllr Dave Nellist, Chair, Campaign for a New Workers Party
